Two different questions bring people here, and they have two different answers. One is about an airline. The other is about a South African bookmaker with the same name. Both are below.
Who Actually Takes Your Bet
The Gambling Commission register settles this in about thirty seconds.
Account 39504 belongs to Triplebet Limited, filed at Millenium House, Olivier Street, Alderney. Its trading-names tab lists two entries, both Active: easybet and matchbook. Its domain-names tab lists http://www.easybet.net with the status White Label, alongside http://www.matchbook.com as Active.
So easyBet does not hold a gambling licence of its own. It is a brand trading on Triplebet’s, and Triplebet is the party that holds your money, handles your complaint and acts on your self-exclusion.
What that means in practice. You are betting into Matchbook’s exchange with a different interface in front of it — the same engine and the same liquidity pool, presented more simply. That is also why easyBet’s odds are consistently sharper than a traditional bookmaker’s: they are exchange prices, not a bookmaker’s margin.
So Where Does The “easy” Name Come From?
The easy brands — the airline, the hotels, the car hire — sit under easyGroup, the brand-licensing company associated with Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou. easyGroup owns the brand and licenses it to separate businesses, which are otherwise unconnected to one another.
easyBet has been described in industry coverage as the easy-branded betting venture, launched in the UK in October 2024. That timing lines up exactly with the register: Triplebet only gained its permission for fixed odds on real sporting events on 21 December 2023, so a fixed-odds easyBet could not have existed here before 2024.
The distinction that answers the search. A shared brand licensor is not shared ownership. easyJet does not own easyBet, has no stake in it, and is not responsible for it — in the same way easyJet does not own easyHotel. If something goes wrong with your bet, the airline is not the company you are dealing with. Triplebet Limited is.
Careful: There Are Two easyBets
This catches a lot of people, and it is the single most useful thing on this page if you have landed from a general search.
There is a large, entirely separate bookmaker called EasyBet operating in South Africa and neighbouring markets. It is a different company with a different licence. If you have been searching for Capitec withdrawals, FICA verification, R50 bonuses, Hollywoodbets comparisons or branches near you, that is the other one — and nothing on this page applies to it.
| easyBet (UK) | EasyBet (South Africa) | |
|---|---|---|
| Operator | Triplebet Limited | A separate, unrelated company |
| Regulator | UK Gambling Commission, account 39504 | South African licensing |
| Domain | easybet.net | A different domain |
| Product | Sportsbook on a betting exchange | Sportsbook, lucky numbers, casino |
| Currency | £ | R |
| Who can open an account | UK customers | Not UK customers |
They share nothing but a name. If you are in the UK, the account you can actually open is the Triplebet one.
easyBet’s Only Sister Site
On the definition that matters — same licensed operator, not merely similar — easyBet has exactly one.
| Brand | On the register | What it is | Our review |
|---|---|---|---|
| easyBet | http://www.easybet.net — White Label | Simplified front end on the exchange | easyBet review |
| Matchbook | http://www.matchbook.com — Active | The full exchange, 2% commission | Matchbook review |
And on value the comparison is not close. Matchbook pays £30 in free bets for the same £20 outlay that gets you £20 at easyBet — worth roughly £15 against £10 once you account for free-bet stakes not being returned. If you are comfortable with an exchange interface, there is no argument for taking the smaller offer on the same engine.
easyBet’s case is simplicity: it is the plainest way into exchange pricing without learning to back and lay. That is a real benefit for a first exchange account, and it costs you about a fiver of welcome-offer value.
Before you open both. Several sources state you can hold an account at only one of the two. We could not confirm that from the operators’ own terms, so we are not asserting it — read the terms before assuming you can claim both welcome offers. Claiming the same style of offer across two brands on one licensee is, in any case, exactly how accounts get flagged.
What A Shared Licensee Means For You
Verification is shared
Same licensee, same KYC process. If an identity or source-of-funds check stalled at one, opening the other rarely produces a different answer.
The regulatory record attaches to both
Triplebet’s UK licence was suspended in February 2020 and a £740,000 penalty followed in April, over anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failings. That predates easyBet’s launch, but it attaches to the licensee that runs it.
Check the register today, though, and the regulatory-actions page for 39504 says none have been recorded. The Commission removes older cases from that listing — so “nothing on the register” means nothing current, not an unblemished history. Our Matchbook sister sites page covers the case in full.
Self-exclusion should reach both
A self-exclusion request made with the licensee should cover every brand on the account, and GAMSTOP covers every UK-licensed site at once. The National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.
Check It Yourself
- Open the register entry for account 39504.
- Open the Trading names tab — easybet and matchbook are both listed.
- Open the Domain names tab and read the status column. easybet.net shows as White Label.
- Search the register by domain name rather than brand name — it is the fastest way to find who really runs any site, and it cuts through brands sharing a name across countries.
easyBet Ownership FAQs
Is easyBet owned by easyJet?
No. easyJet is an airline and has no stake in easyBet. The UK betting licence is held by Triplebet Limited under Gambling Commission account 39504. Both businesses use the “easy” brand, which sits with easyGroup and is licensed to otherwise separate companies.
Who owns easyBet?
The licensee is Triplebet Limited, filed at Millenium House, Olivier Street, Alderney, which also operates Matchbook. The register lists http://www.easybet.net as a White Label domain on Triplebet’s account 39504, meaning easyBet trades on a licence it does not hold itself.
Is easyBet the same as Matchbook?
Same operator and same exchange engine, different front end. Matchbook is the fuller product with 2% commission, Matchbook Zero markets and a stronger welcome offer. easyBet is the simpler interface, aimed at people who want exchange prices without learning to back and lay.
Is easyBet safe?
It is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission through Triplebet Limited, so UK consumer protections, dispute resolution and advertising rules all apply, and it is registered with GAMSTOP. The licensee was suspended and fined £740,000 in 2020 over anti-money-laundering failings; the suspension was served and it has traded here since. That case no longer appears on the register, because older cases are removed from that listing.
Is this the same easyBet as the South African one?
No — they are unrelated companies sharing a name. The South African EasyBet is a separate, larger operator under South African licensing. If you are searching for Capitec withdrawals, FICA verification or R50 bonuses, that is the other brand and nothing here applies to it.
When did easyBet launch in the UK?
In October 2024. The register supports that timing: Triplebet only gained its permission for fixed odds on real sporting events on 21 December 2023, so a fixed-odds easyBet could not have operated here before 2024.
