Next Fixtures

Twenty-four clubs, 46 matches, and a promotion race that runs to the final weekend more often than not. The Championship punishes the assumptions that work in the Premier League, and that gap is where most of the value on this page sits.

Why Championship prices behave differently

Forty-six matches across nine months, with midweek rounds stacked through autumn and spring, wears squads down in a way a 38-game season does not. Depth decides more results here than quality does. A club with two fit strikers in February outperforms a better club with one, and the market takes weeks to catch up.

The gap between first and twelfth is narrower than in any other English division. Clubs beat the leaders on a Tuesday and lose at home to 22nd on the Saturday, and neither result tells you much on its own. Judge form over six matches on this page for that reason, and treat any run shorter than that as noise.

Parachute payments distort the top of the table. Clubs relegated from the Premier League carry budgets the rest of the division cannot match, and the market prices that reputation into their odds from August. Some justify it. Others take a season to adjust to a league where nobody gives them the ball, and they drift to a fairer price by Christmas.

Three routes up, one route down

The top two go up automatically. Third to sixth enter the play-offs, with the final at Wembley deciding the last place in the Premier League. Estimates of what that single match is worth to the winning club run well past £100m once broadcast money and parachute payments are counted, which explains why the play-off market attracts the money it does.

Backing a club to reach the play-offs and backing it to win them are different propositions with different shapes. Sixth place gets you into the bracket and hands you the harder draw. Third gets you a kinder semi-final and a fortnight of pressure. We break down how the bracket prices up in the Championship play-off betting guide.

Three clubs drop to League One. The relegation market here stays live far longer than it does above, because the bottom six rarely separates until April.

Build the table yourself

The promotion race rewards anyone who has counted the points rather than guessed at them. Our Championship table predictor lets you call every remaining fixture and watch the automatic places and the play-off bracket move as you go. Real results lock in each week, so the projection tightens rather than drifting into fantasy.

Run it once and you will see how many points a play-off place costs. Most people set their target ten short. The Premier League predictor and the rest sit on the simulators hub.

Where the value tends to hide

Home advantage counts for more in the Championship than in the Premier League. Away travel is longer, pitches vary more, and crowds sit closer to the pitch at several grounds. Every club page on this site splits its record by venue for that reason, calculated separately rather than averaged.

Goals markets drift after international breaks and through the Christmas programme, when squads thin out and managers rotate. Fixture congestion moves the under line before it moves the result, so a side playing its third match in seven days deserves a different read from the same side on a free week.

Newly promoted clubs from League One get underpriced in August and overpriced by October if they start well. The market has less data on them than on anyone else in the division, and it shows in how far their prices swing on small samples.

What this page gives you

The full table with form and venue splits, every fixture with prices and head to head history, and a page for all 24 clubs carrying the same treatment across the season.

Everything updates on its own as results come in. No one types a scoreline into this site by hand.

Common questions

How does promotion from the Championship work?

The top two go up automatically. Clubs finishing third to sixth play off over two legs, and the winners of those ties meet at Wembley for the third promotion place.

How many clubs are relegated from the Championship?

Three, into League One. They swap with the two automatically promoted clubs and the League One play-off winner.

How many matches does a Championship season have?

Forty-six per club, running from early August to early May, with the play-offs finishing later in May. Confirmed dates and kick-off times sit on the fixture list.

What are parachute payments?

Payments made to clubs relegated from the Premier League, tapering over up to three seasons. They give those clubs a budget advantage over the rest of the division, which is worth factoring in before you back an outright market in August.

Are there free bets for Championship matches?

Yes. UK licensed bookmakers price the Championship as heavily as the top flight, and current welcome offers sit on our free bets and offers page with the full qualifying terms for each. Check the minimum odds requirement first, since a qualifying bet placed below it will not count.
