A clean sheet is a game in which a team concedes no goals, and the clean-sheet rate is one of the most stable measures of a defence over a season. The clubs at the top of this table are the hardest to score against, which feeds directly into the win-to-nil, under-goals and "no" both-teams-to-score markets.

Set it against the failed-to-score column for the whole story. A side with a high clean-sheet rate that also fails to score often is a draw-and-narrow-win specialist — useful for unders, awkward for backing outright. One that keeps clean sheets while still scoring is usually near the top of the table for a reason.

Defensive records lean heavily on personnel: a first-choice centre-back pairing and a settled keeper are worth more to these numbers than form alone. When you spot a club climbing this table, it is often the sign of a defence that has finally settled.

Clean Sheets FAQs

What is a clean sheet?
A clean sheet is a match in which a team does not concede a goal. The rate here is the share of a club’s games this season that ended that way.
Which team has the best defence?
The club at the top of this table has kept a clean sheet in the highest share of its games this season, which is the clearest single read on a defence.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every stats table on the site is free, with no paywall and no sign-up, and it stays that way.
