Predict the 2026/27 League Two table

League Two gives you 552 fixtures, 24 clubs and 46 matchweeks, and this free table predictor lets you call every one of them. Enter a scoreline in any fixture above and the table re-ranks straight away, from the three automatic promotion places through the play-off spots down to the two clubs dropping out of the Football League.

The season opened on Saturday 15 August 2026 with Newport County against Rochdale at Rodney Parade, and the last round plays out on Saturday 8 May 2027 with all twelve games starting together at 3pm. Rotherham, Oldham, Port Vale, Bristol Rovers and Gillingham are all in it, alongside Barnet, York City and Salford City.

During the season we lock confirmed results into the page automatically. Played games show as full-time and count in the standings, while your predictions cover everything still to be decided. If you fancy calling the division above too, the League One table predictor runs on the same engine.

How to use the table predictor

  1. Choose your round. The dropdown lists all 46 matchweeks with their dates, or step through them with Prev and Next. Kick-off times show in UK time, venue included.
  2. Fill in scorelines. Home goals on the left, away goals on the right. Enter moves you to the next box, so a twelve-game round takes about a minute.
  3. Read the zones. Green marks the top three, promoted straight to League One. The white bars cover fourth to seventh, the play-off places. Red marks 23rd and 24th, relegated to the National League.
  4. Leave and return. Your season saves in this browser as you go. No login, nothing sent anywhere, and the table waits for you next visit.
  5. Rewrite history. Change any score whenever you like, reset one round with “Clear this week”, or wipe all 552 calls and start over.

Promotion, play-offs and relegation explained

League Two is the one division in the EFL that sends three clubs up automatically. First, second and third go straight to League One. Fourth to seventh then contest the play-offs, two-legged semi-finals and a Wembley final, for a fourth promotion place. That is four ways out of the bottom division, and it is why the green and white bands in the table sit deeper here than anywhere else.

At the other end, only the bottom two go down, into the National League. Two up from non-league replace them. Fewer clubs relegated than in League One, but the drop matters far more: leaving the EFL costs a club its central funding and, historically, has been hard to reverse quickly.

Ties break on goal difference first, then goals scored, matching the EFL’s own order. Any club still level after that sorts alphabetically here, which across 46 games barely ever gets tested.

For a sense of scale when you judge your final table: the automatic places usually go somewhere in the mid-80s and up, seventh often scrapes in around 70, and 50-odd points is normally enough to stay in the Football League. If your predicted top three all clear 95, you have taken a lot of points off somebody.

Why League Two is so hard to call

The bottom division is the most compressed in the country. Budgets are close enough that form, injuries and a single loan signing swing a season, and the table routinely has a dozen clubs inside six points at Christmas. Long-shot promotion pushes and late collapses are the norm rather than the story.

It is also the most traditional division to follow: 413 of the 552 fixtures kick off at 3pm on a Saturday, so most weekends the whole table moves at once. That makes a predicted table genuinely useful, because you are calling a division where nobody, including the bookmakers, has much of an edge.

Study helps. Our xG guide shows how to spot teams winning ugly or losing well before the table catches up, and the rest of our football guides cover markets from both teams to score to half-time/full-time. League Two predictor FAQs

How many clubs go up from League Two?
Four. The top three are promoted automatically to League One, and a fourth comes through the play-offs between the clubs finishing fourth to seventh.
How many clubs are relegated from League Two?
Two. The bottom two, 23rd and 24th, drop into the National League and are replaced by two clubs coming up from non-league.
Does the predictor include the play-off matches?
No. It covers the 46-round league season, which decides who reaches the play-offs. The white bars mark fourth to seventh so you can see your predicted semi-finalists at a glance.
Do I need an account?
No. Predictions save in your browser on this device, and nothing gets uploaded or shared.
What happens to my prediction when a match is actually played?
The real result replaces it. Played fixtures lock, show their full-time score, and feed the table together with your remaining predictions.
Are kick-off times shown in UK time?
Yes. Every fixture displays its UK date and kick-off time plus the venue, matchweek by matchweek.
