Most sister-site pages ask you to take their word for it. This one doesn’t need you to — the Gambling Commission lists both brands by name on the same account, and you can read it in thirty seconds.
The Register Names Both Brands
Open account 39504 and go to the trading-names tab. Two entries, both Active:
| Trading name | Status | Domain on the register | Domain status |
|---|---|---|---|
| matchbook | Active | http://www.matchbook.com | Active |
| easybet | Active | http://www.easybet.net | White Label |
Note the difference in the right-hand column. Matchbook’s own domain is listed as Active — Triplebet’s own product. easyBet’s is listed as White Label, which is how the register records a brand trading on a licence it does not hold.
The account also carries two retired Matchbook domains (classic and mobile, both Inactive) and a Predict Street subdomain, which is why you may see a larger number quoted elsewhere. Neither is a separate consumer brand.
In practice: two front ends, one engine. easyBet is the simpler interface on the same exchange and the same liquidity, carrying the easy brand. Matchbook is the full product with the 2% commission structure, Matchbook Zero markets and the better app. Same company, same compliance team, same verification process.
The Licence Dates Tell A Story
Worth two minutes, because it explains something neither brand advertises.
| Permission | Held since | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Betting Intermediary (Remote) | 1 Nov 2014 | Running an exchange — matching customers |
| Casino (Remote) | 1 Nov 2014 | Casino games |
| Pool Betting (Remote) | 16 Oct 2015 | Pooled betting |
| GBS — Virtual Event (Remote) | 13 Aug 2020 | Fixed odds on virtual events |
| GBS — Real Event (Remote) | 21 Dec 2023 | Fixed odds on real sport |
Triplebet has run an exchange for over a decade. But the permission to offer fixed odds on real sporting events — the ordinary bookmaker product — arrived only in December 2023.
Two things follow. easyBet could not have launched as a fixed-odds sportsbook before 2024, which matches its stated launch. And Matchbook’s Multiples and Bet Builder products, which the welcome offer is built around, are recent additions rather than long-standing features.
The Regulatory Record — And Why It Looks Clean
This is the part that matters most, and nearly every page on this subject gets it wrong.
Look up account 39504 today and the regulatory-actions page says: “No regulatory actions have been recorded for this business.”
Triplebet was suspended and fined. In February 2020 the Commission halted its UK operation with immediate effect while it investigated anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failings. In April 2020 it set out what it had found and imposed a £740,000 penalty.
Both things are true, and here is why. The Commission removes older cases from the register’s regulatory-actions listing. An empty page means no current entry — it is not a statement that nothing ever happened. If you take “nothing on the register” as proof of a clean history, at this operator or any other, you will reach the wrong conclusion. Check the Commission’s published enforcement reports alongside it.
The fair reading of the case itself: the investigation found one customer gambling around $2m across two days without intervention, and a syndicate matching roughly $55m of bets over 18 months with no documented risk assessment. The suspension was lifted once Triplebet demonstrated the required remedial measures, and both brands have traded here since. Customer funds were never the issue — our own withdrawal cleared in hours.
It is six years old, the suspension was served, and remediation was accepted. Worth knowing before you open an account; not a reason to avoid one.
Matchbook Or easyBet?
Since they are the same engine, the question is which front end suits you.
| Matchbook | easyBet | |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome offer | Bet £20 Get £30 | Bet £20 Get £20 |
| Commission | 2%, 0% on Zero markets | Exchange pricing, simpler presentation |
| Interface | Full exchange — back and lay | Deliberately plain |
| App | 4.8 on the App Store | Available |
| Best for | Anyone comfortable with an exchange | A first step into exchange pricing |
On value the answer is straightforward: Matchbook pays £30 for the same £20 outlay that gets you £20 at easyBet — worth about £15 against £10 once you account for the stake not being returned. If you are comfortable with the interface, there is no argument for taking the smaller one.
One thing to check before you open both. Several sources state you can hold an account at only one of the two. We could not confirm that from the operators’ own terms, so we are not asserting it — but read the terms before assuming you can claim both welcome offers. Claiming the same style of offer across brands on one licensee is, in any case, how accounts get flagged.
Check It Yourself
- Open the register entry for account 39504.
- Open the Trading names tab — both brands are named there.
- Open the Domain names tab and note the status column: Active, Inactive or White Label.
- Check the regulatory-actions tab and the Commission’s enforcement reports. The register alone will not show you the 2020 case.
Matchbook Sister Sites FAQs
What are Matchbook’s sister sites?
One: easyBet. Both are operated by Triplebet Limited under UK Gambling Commission account 39504, and the register lists “matchbook” and “easybet” as active trading names on that account. They share the exchange engine and the liquidity pool.
Who owns Matchbook?
The licensee is Triplebet Limited, which files a head office at Millenium House, Olivier Street, Alderney, GY9 3TD with the Gambling Commission. It has held the Betting Intermediary licence that allows it to run an exchange since 1 November 2014.
Was Matchbook’s operator fined?
Yes. Triplebet’s UK licence was suspended with immediate effect in February 2020 and a £740,000 penalty followed in April 2020, over anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failings. The suspension was lifted once remedial measures were demonstrated. The case no longer appears on the register’s regulatory-actions page because the Commission removes older cases from that listing.
Is easyBet the same as Matchbook?
Same operator and same exchange engine, different front end. The register records easyBet’s domain as a White Label on Triplebet’s licence, while Matchbook’s own domain is listed as Active. Matchbook is the fuller product with the better welcome offer; easyBet is the simpler interface.
If I’m restricted at Matchbook, can I use easyBet?
Possibly not. Verification and account decisions sit with the licensee rather than the brand, so a restriction at one may carry across. A self-exclusion certainly should — and GAMSTOP covers every UK-licensed site at once.
