What Are the Quarter-Finals?
The quarter-finals are the last eight of the 2026 World Cup. The eight Round of 16 winners advance here, so the field halves to the sides chasing a semi-final place. Every team left has already won three knockout ties, which lifts the standard from the first whistle. Nobody arrives at this stage by luck.
The ties run as single-elimination games. Level after 90 minutes brings 30 minutes of extra time, and a penalty shootout settles any match still level after that. There are no replays. The four winners move into the semi-finals (14–15 July), and the losers go home.
Because each side has already cleared three knockout rounds, you read form differently here. A team that needed penalties to survive the last 16 may arrive tired; a side that won inside 90 keeps its edge. See how the eight got here through our Round of 16 guide, and for the shootout angles that decide tight ties, our penalty shootout betting guide ranks the nations and goalkeepers.

The Round of 16 is done and the last eight is set. The standout draws are a 2022 semi-final rematch as France meet Morocco in Boston, unbeaten Spain against Belgium in Los Angeles (Spain have not conceded all tournament), and Norway v England in Miami, where Haaland and Kane lead the Golden Boot race. Holders Argentina meet Switzerland in Kansas City, with Lionel Messi leading the scoring charts on eight. See how the eight got here on our Round of 16 guide.
How the Bracket Works
The two semi-finals feed straight from the quarter-final winners. The Dallas semi-final (AT&T Stadium, Tuesday 14 July) pairs the winner of France v Morocco (M97) with the winner of Spain v Belgium (M98). The Atlanta semi-final (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Wednesday 15 July) pairs the winner of Norway v England (M99) with the winner of Argentina’s tie (M100). The winners of those two meet in the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday 19 July.
So if England beat Norway in Miami, they head to the Atlanta semi-final against whoever comes through Argentina’s quarter-final. Weigh each contender’s route on the outright winner page, and see the showpiece on our World Cup final betting guide.
Betting the Quarter-Finals
Three markets carry the value at this stage. The outright winner price keeps shortening as the favourites clear each round, so eight teams in, a serious contender still holding double-figure odds stands out. To reach the final rewards a side with a kind-looking half of the draw. And the individual match markets are open on all four ties, where a deep block and a shootout pedigree can drag a favourite to penalties.
Prices below are indicative outright and to-reach-the-final numbers for the eight teams still standing. Brazil and Portugal are gone, so the market has reshaped around France, Spain and England at the top. Confirm the live price with your bookmaker before staking. Knockout markets move fast once teams qualify.
| Team | Win outright | Reach final |
|---|---|---|
| France | 7/4 | 4/6 |
| Spain | 2/1 | 4/5 |
| England | 9/2 | 6/4 |
| Argentina | 5/1 | 6/4 |
| Belgium | 12/1 | 4/1 |
| Morocco | 16/1 | 5/1 |
| Norway | 20/1 | 6/1 |
| Switzerland | 40/1 | 12/1 |

How We Approach Knockout Betting
Knockout football rewards caution, and the last eight tightens the screw further. A 90-minute market that looks generous on a favourite often ignores the obvious: a team that only needs to survive will sit deep, soak pressure and aim for extra time. We weight three things before backing any quarter-final.
Draw No Bet and double chance on a strong favourite removes the extra-time variance that 1X2 prices ignore. Under markets earn their keep when a heavy underdog parks the bus, since chances dry up and the goals come late or not at all. And to qualify rather than to win in 90 covers the side you fancy whether they win it on the night or grind it out on penalties.

Route to the Final
Every quarter-final winner moves into the semi-finals in Dallas and Atlanta (14–15 July), then the final at MetLife Stadium on 19 July. The quarter-finals run 9 to 12 July, the Dallas semi (14 July) takes the France v Morocco and Spain v Belgium winners, and the Atlanta semi (15 July) takes the Norway v England and Argentina winners. The bracket is fixed from here, so the half of the draw a team lands in shapes its odds as much as its own form. Our World Cup final betting page covers the showpiece, and the Round of 16 guide tracks the ties that fed the last eight.
